New Music. Psalms 121 Song. I Need You now.

New Music. Psalms 121 Song. I Need You now.

Sometimes we go through phases in our spiritual journey where we start to feel uninspired. The warm fuzzy feelings we used to have from our past religious communities are all gone. You miss having fellowship, and that’s only natural. We were made to be in community.

So what do you do when you’ve been walking in truth on your own and you feel lonely? What do you do when you feel uninspired? When I go through times like these I choose to pause. Just pause and remember who I am in Yah. He’s my Father. I’m His child. And so are you. Yah promised that we’d never walk alone. So we can always cry out, “Abba, I need you now.”

I’ve been working on some new music and just wanted to share a taste of what’s to come. This is one of the songs that Yah inspired me to share with you as is, in it’s purest form, before I go into the studio again. It’s based on Psalms 121 and it’s called, “I need You now.” I pray you enjoy the video of the new music. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

‘I lift up my eyes to the hills; Where does my help come from? My help comes from יהוה, Maker of the heavens and earth. He does not allow your foot to be moved; He who watches over you does not slumber. See, He who is guarding Yisra’ĕl Neither slumbers nor sleeps. יהוה is your guard; יהוה is your shade at your right hand. The sun does not strike you by day, Nor the moon by night. יהוה guards you from all evil; He guards your being. יהוה guards your going out and your coming in Now and forever.’

Tehillim (Psalms) 121:1-8, The Scriptures.

Regardless of your situation in life right now, keep looking up to the hills. No matter what you’re going through Yah will be your strength through it all. To all who have been praying for me and my husband as we wait on my immigration – we are still waiting. Things are moving forward but we still have to be patient, and we appreciate all your prayers in the mean time. We have one more trip planned to each other soon, and prayerfully it will be the last trip back and forth before my papers get approved. Yah is good and we have to remember His mercy is everlasting!

If you’re going through a time where you feel alone, you miss having fellowship, or you just need more of Yah in your life, leave a comment below and say, “Abba, I need You now.” Feel free to share any prayer requests or praises to Yahuah in the comments below as well. It’s always good for us to be able to read through the comments and pray for one another. May Yah richly bless us all.

Get Wisdom. Music based on Proverbs. Secret Place Vol.1 (EP)

Get Wisdom. Music based on Proverbs. Secret Place Vol.1 (EP)

Get Wisdom. Believe it or not, I’ve been meaning to share this song with you for months now! I just got back to my home base in Toronto after being in California for 7 weeks with my husband. It was absolutely wonderful being able to unplug and enjoy the quality time with him. We made so many memories! For those of you who are still praying for us, thank you! We’re still waiting on immigration to process our application so that I can stay with him in California full time. Until then, we endure! More on that in a future blog post. For now I want you to enjoy this music. It’s called Get Wisdom from Secret Place Vol.1 (EP)

“She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”

Proverbs 3:15-17

I always hope and pray that my music will encourage you to meditate on the scriptures throughout the week. The lyrics to this song are based on Proverbs. (Proverbs 3:15-17; Proverbs 4:5,6; Proverbs 9:10.) I’ve shared the first of the passages with you above, and encourage you to spend time reading all of them as you have time.

As you read, think about how the message can apply to your life. Without wisdom and understanding we have nothing but head knowledge – no practical application. That’s just not enough. It’s wisdom and understanding that allows us to make the scriptures come alive in our lives day to day. So I hope this little blog post will encourage you to get wisdom.

If this post was meaningful for you, leave a comment below and let’s connect. I’ll see you down in the comments.

I Trust in You. Secret Place Vol.1 (EP)

I Trust in You. Secret Place Vol.1 (EP)

Is there something in your life that you have been waiting on an answer for? Something that seems unclear, unfinished, still on the way, or halfway done?

There are so many things that we cannot control in this world. Answers to prayer don’t always show up in the timeline that we expect them to. More often than not, we have to be patient as we wait on Yah to move in our lives.

secret place album cover

Today I want to remind you that there is no safer place to be than resting in the arms of Yahuah. That secret place where we can hide away from all the cares and hassels of this world – there’s nothing like it. Even in the midst of a busy week, we can choose to find ourselves there for a moment.

Let’s learn to embrace the waiting. It’s in the waiting that your belief and trust in Yahuah grows and becomes solidified. Don’t be afraid of delays or unanswered prayers that come up in your life. We often feel like we are the ones waiting on Yah, but it’s often Yah who is waiting on us to say “Abba, I trust in You.”

The song in the video below is called “I trust in You” from Secret Place Vol.1 (EP). I pray that it will be an encouragement to you today.

‘Trust in יהוה with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; Know Him in all your ways, And He makes all your paths straight.’

Mishlĕ (Proverbs) 3:5-6, The Scriptures 2009 (TS2009)

If the music above was meaningful for you, and you’re in a season of life where you need to practice waiting on Yahuah, leave a comment below and say, “Abba, I Trust in You.”

Feel free to say more if you have a prayer request, a scripture, or a testimony to share. I’m sure everyone who reads your comment will be inspired. I’ll see you in the comments below.

Stay under the shadow of His Wings. Psalms 91.

Stay under the shadow of His Wings. Psalms 91.

Sometimes life can feel like it’s a constant race. You can get pulled in one direction, then distracted by another.

How do you refocus?

I don’t know about you but I thank Yah that we have the Shabbat every week. It’s the perfect excuse to refocus, and I would be lost without it.

Even though my physical world is not as busy as some, being that I don’t have kids yet and life is still fairly quiet, the world inside my head is still SO busy. Far too busy.

Do you ever feel crowded by your own thoughts?

When I start to feel that way, I’m learning to make the conscious decision to stop – and shift into worship. We need to choose worship. To re-focus our energy on Yahuah.

Today I was in my head thinking too much again, and I just had to stop, make a shift, and start playing my guitar.  As I played, the music made me cry. I’m not sure why, it just happens sometimes. I’m a woman – it’s allowed lol don’t judge me for it lol.  But I’m sharing this because I had a much needed release, and it happened through worship.

I want you all to know that the only reason I’m still here blogging at Set Apart Heart, is because we all need a little encouragement to shift out of our own thoughts, and into worship. I know I’m not the only one who needs encouragement to spend more time meditating on the word of Yah.

That is the reason I still make music. We need more music based on the scriptures. We all need more of Yah’s word in our lives. And even though I don’t take time to make “scripture challenge” videos anymore, I still pray that each one of you would use my music as inspiration to meditate on the word, and pray to Yahuah Most High.

I want to say thank you to all those of you who have been supporting the new EP that just came out, Secret Place Vol.1. If you haven’t yet heard it, the title track is in the video below. I sincerely pray that this music will inspire you to meditate on the word of Yahuah. Find yourself in His secret place and worship Him. Trust in Him – Trust his process, and His plan, Meditate on Psalms 91.

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, Who abides under the shadow of the Almighty, He is saying of יהוה, “My refuge and my stronghold, My Elohim, in whom I trust!” For He delivers you from the snare of a trapper, From the destructive pestilence. He covers you with His feathers, And under His wings you take refuge; His truth is a shield and armour. “

Tehillim (Psalms) 91 1:4, The Scriptures 2009

Shabbat shalom when it comes in Mishpacha. Let’s allow ourselves to stay under the shadow of His wings.

Leave a comment below if you found this to be encouraging, and don’t hesitate to share with a friend who may need it. Enjoy your rest in Yahuah.

Peace & Love to you. Shalom shalom.

Refocus on the Covenant of Love.

Refocus on the Covenant of Love.

Are we becoming more focused on Hebrew language and identity than we are on actually walking out the Word of Yahuah? Let’s refocus on the Covenant of Love.

My heart is heavy. And I can’t pretend like it’s not. I feel like we are loosing focus in the Hebrew community at large. I left Christianity in 2013 because I felt like something was missing. I felt like, as a community, Christians were just pretending. Saying they believed in the Bible, but ignoring large portions of scripture and living in ways that didn’t line up with the word. I was really uncomfortable with that.

I wanted to follow Yahuah – in Spirit and in Truth – and to set myself apart from people who were comfortable living a lie. I wanted my life, and not just my lips to be in line with the Word of Yah, and to surround myself with people who believed the same way.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, decieving your own selves.”

James 1:22

As the Hebrew community grows, it seems like people are more focused on the Hebrew language and Hebrew identity, than they are in actually walking out the word of Yahuah. This saddens me – so much. What happened to authenticity? What happened to openness and transparency? What happened to the covenant of love? As a people, did we find ourselves in the mess we are in today because we failed to speak Hebrew perfectly? Were we thrown into captivity because we didn’t know about our Hebrew DNA? Or were we being chastened by our Abba Yah because we failed to follow His ways?

If you’ve been following this blog since the beginning, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve really slowed down with posting over the years. And it’s honestly because I myself get discouraged too. I often need time out to re-focus on the things that matter most, and I simply refuse to pretend that I don’t. I know that I’m not perfect, but I want to be. I want to be made perfect in Yahuah. And I’m sure that you do too.

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

Matthew 5:48 KJV

When I see the direction that some of our people are going in, I get discouraged. Is this Hebrew walk just a game where we wear tassels and fringes and say shalom? Do we cover our heads, memorize the Aleph Bet, and somehow forget to live by the commandments of Elohim? Are we so prideful that we can’t admit when we do wrong? Or are we just becoming content with saying one thing but yet doing another?

No matter how much scripture reading and prayer I do, I still go through phases where there is a disconnect spiritually, and it’s probably because we are designed to be in community. I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. Leave a comment below if there are times when you feel low, or disconnected spiritally too.

But I’d rather walk alone than walk with those who choose to love lies. And in spite of it all, I will never stop believing in the word of Yahuah. I know that Yah’s word is true. And regardless of the mess that is going on in the world and in the community around us, we must keep our eyes fixed on Yah and in His word.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of Elohim, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:2

I thank Yah for my husband because marriage reminds me soooo much of my relationship with Abba Yah. And when I feel distant from Yahuah, I know it won’t always be this way. Right now, because of immigration, my husband and I are still in two different countries. And even though we talk several times a day – every single day, it’s still REALLY really hard to be apart. We spent Passover together, which was wonderful, and we will have Summer vacation together soon, but in between, we have to deal with the challenges that come along with long distance relationships.

It’s the same thing with Yahuah. Right now, the long distance makes it challenging to feel Him close. But we know He made a promise, and soon He’s coming to take us home. And just like how my husband and I don’t know the exact date when our immigration application will be approved, we also don’t know the day or the hour when Abba Yah will return again. The promises we’ve made to one another are true, but we are still waiting for them to be made completely full. But they will be, because of the covenant of love. Just like the covenant of love Yah has made with His people.

So today I challenge you to get back to the covenant of love. Revist your vows to Yahuah, your very first Love. Refocus on the commandments, the covenant we agreed to guard for Him. Don’t let your religion be all in your head. Let it be written on your heart. Don’t let your knowledge of language and identity puff you up so that you wind up going your own way. Let’s be humble. Be open – be transparent – and walk in the ways of Yahuah.

Below there’s a video with our wedding scriptures, and the vows my husband Eliyah and I exchanged on our wedding day. You’ll hear our government names “Darryl Burton Jr.” and “Rochelle Hanson” in the video, as we profess our love before Yah, our family, and the wedding officiant. I hope this video inspires you to get back to basics, on focus on our covenant with Yahuah!

Leave a comment below if you’re ready to focus more on humbly walking with Yahuah. Let’s get back to basics with Him. Just say, “I’m ready to renew my vows with Yah!”

Let’s encourage one another to grow deeper and stronger in our relationship with Him.

See you in the comments below.

Something to Look Forward to. Secret Place Vol.1 (EP)

There’s a lot going on right now. My goal today is simple. I just want to give you something to look forward to. A reason to smile for a little while. There’s a lot that we can’t control in life, but there’s one thing we surely can, and that’s our thoughts and our conversations. Yes. Let’s set aside the heavy weights, and focus on Yah’s purpose. For His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Let’s stay focused on Yahuah and search our own hearts to see how we can be in better service to Him and His kingdom.

Next month (prayerfully) I’ll have a new EP ready for you called “Secret Place Vol.1.” I hope that the music will inspire you to look to the only power who can truly save: Yahuah Elohim, The Most High. Enjoy the 5 min video below. Keep looking up!!
